National 911 Program Update

The latest data submitted by states across the nation in the National 911 Profile Database indicated that many states are implementing Next Generation 911 (NG911) and looking to interconnect their systems with other states. To establish this nationwide 911 “system of systems,” several technical and non-technical tasks must be completed at the national level. The list of these tasks has yet to be identified.

The National 911 Program has convened key members of the 911 community to solicit their ideas for what tasks should be included in a national NG911 roadmap. Ideas are sought through steering groups and public comment opportunities. The final roadmap is expected to be used as a blueprint for national and federal agencies to consider completing specific tasks, ensuring end-to-end interoperability of a national NG911 system.
